Training of Trainers (ToT)

INTERACTIVE AND PRACTICAL TRAINING OF TRAINERS IN INTERPRETATION TECHNIQUES

AfIA offers interactive online courses for high level interpreter training, targeting both individual trainers, institutions and academia.


  • Definition
    AIt is about equipping practicing interpreters or academic staff with pedagogical skills and expertise to train professional interpreters in order to sustain the profession through quality interpreter training in the African context.

    • Creating content: Preparing suitable speeches
    • How to prepare Lesson Plans
    • IT tools and RSI platforms
    • Addressing Regressions and Persistent Problems
    • Booth Manners, Ethics and Professionalism
    • Voice Control and Stress Management
  • Teaching Methodology
    • Hands-on training of trainers based on real experience
    • Case studies and real-life scenarios
    • Real-world knowledge building on trainers know-how
    • Applied practice in relevant training areas
    • Practical, real-life training scenarios based on concrete experience using role play, group work and up-to-date teaching methods.


  • Registration
    This training of trainers’ course can be organised as an intensive workshop (at least five days) or divided into stand-alone modules (curriculum development; teaching consecutive; simultaneous; IT tools and RSI; sight translation; feedback and evaluation).
    Each module is a minimum of 6-hour course (2 sessions of 3 hours per day).
    Individual modules are currently available at a rate of XXX or a discounted course fee of XXXX.
    Flexible programming is offered on days and times suitable for academic institutions.
